The Jakarta Sewerage Development Project or the project carried out to improve domestic wastewater management is along-term government effort to build an optimal and sustainable sanitation system for the DKI Jakarta area.
The scope of work of PT Tohoma Mandiri on this project is to handle the installation of underground pipe networks in anumber of important zones of the JSDP project including Zone 1 Package 2, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Narrow work space, water-saturated soil, and underground pressure are the main challenges in implementing this project. Relying on the Microtunneling or Pipe Jacking method which is carried out without open trench excavation, thus minimizing disruption to the activities of the surrounding community. The installed pipe is a RCP (Reinforced Concrete Pipe) with a diameter of 450 mm.
In the future, this system will be connected to a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) which is expected to significantly improve the quality of groundwater, rivers, and city channels, while supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 6: access to clean water and proper sanitation.
