TOHOMA has achieved another milestone in the Jakarta Sewerage Development Project (JSDP) Zone 1. Using its own Micro Tunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) DN400mm, the team successfully completed a breakthrough from shaft C-12/3.3 to C-12/4.0, applying the jacking (microtunneling) method. A total of 34 pipes were installed with a total length of 82.62 meters.

Yes, it’s breakthrough! The JSDP or Jakarta Sewerage Development Project Zone 1 Package 2 successfully breakthrough MTBM Pit MH C-1.3 to C-1.2 with a span length of 99.6 meters at the strategic point of Sutan Syahrir Street, Central Jakarta, DKI Jakarta.

Not just an ordinary project, this project involved the Microtunneling method with a diameter of 450mm. In the process, the team also faced challenging terrain in the form of a combination of sticky clay and silty clay, a type of soil that is often challenging in the drilling process due to its sticky nature.

ITB Student Visit to the Location of Jakarta Sewerage Development Project

Students from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) visited the Sewerage Development Project site which is currently being carried out by PT Tohoma Mandiri. This visit aims to provide direct insight into the Microtunneling jacking method used in developing city drainage systems.

Apart from the implementation method, students also received an explanation regarding the drilling material disposal route. Material produced from the drilling process is channeled through a pump system and then processed so as not to cause pollution at the project site. In this project, PT Tohoma Mandiri uses environmentally friendly drilling materials and applies a separation plant system to separate the drilling material.

This system ensures that the material can be recycled and reused. With this visit, PT Tohoma Mandiri supporting the development of practical knowledge for the younger generation who will be involved in the world of engineering and the environment.

The Role of Hydraulic Jacks in Microtunneling Projects for Success and Efficiency

Hydraulic Jack functions is tasked with pushing precast pipes into the drill hole simultaneously during the drilling process. When the Microtunneling Boring Machine (MTBM) machine is drilling the ground, the hydraulic jack simultaneously pushes the pipe from behind the drilling machine. The pipe automatically follows the drilling pace without pause.

The advantage of using a hydraulic jack in installing pipes is the efficiency of time and energy, because the pipe installation takes place along with the drilling process. If the drilling is complete, the pipe installation is also complete.

Hydraulic jacks are also used in PT Tohoma Mandiri’s microtunneling projects. This technology ensures that pipe installation is more efficient, fast, and precise, along with soil drilling carried out by the Microtunnel Boring Machine (MTBM).

Breakthrough on the IPAL Piping Project Zone 1&3 KIPP IKN East Kalimantan has been successfully carried out again by the PT Tohoma Mandiri team. The SPAN that we successfully worked on was from Departure MH0179 to Arrival MH0178 and the span was 47 meters long with 47 pipes. This breakthrough is an important milestone that shows the success of the microtunneling jacking method.

This project is designed to support an efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment system in the KIPP-IKN area. The scope of our work is DN200mm microtunneling work using Microtunneling Boring Machine (MTBM) technology, which is a technique that is very suitable for infrastructure projects in dense areas.

In the midst of rapid infrastructure development in Indonesia, technology continues to develop to meet project needs. One of them is jacking technology, especially microtunneling, which is the main concern of the Indonesian construction industry. This method is done by making a small tunnel using a drilling machine (Microtunneling Boring Machines, MTBM) combined with pipe jacking techniques.

This method does not require open excavation so it is suitable for urban areas and environmentally sensitive areas so this method is increasingly popular as a solution to reduce environmental impacts and avoid disturbance to the community. Jacking methods are divided into several types. PT Tohoma Mandiri focuses on implementing pipe jacking on the slurry type and auger type.
